Car status report

  1. Suspension ready to go: leaf springs newly bent, rear ones with one additional leaf, everything assembled, fits like a glove.
  2. Brakes ready: cleaned and checked, there was not much to do, and anyway we don’t want to use them too often
  3. The seats I took to the saddler last week, should be back on Monday newly upholstered.
  4. Engine: still a never ending story, but except for the engine block and the cylinder head the engine is completely new now. Thanks to the workshop manual the adjustment of the timing belt is OK, and all parts are back in the garage for final assembly. God willing we will finish on Monday.

Rear springs before assembly:

Camera stand

Instead of attaching camera mounts to different parts of the car I decided to buy a professional car stand. It was expensive, but it works perfectly. Here is the result of my first test today (featuring my daughters hands):

Real men don’t read manuals

they try and err until something works, or until they run out of time.

The latter happened to our mechanic now: I bought a workshop manual (yes, you can still find old ones on the Internet, mine is from 1989) to find out what’s wrong with the engine.

Your time has come, Beast, beware of the man with the manual!
