Slowly getting desperate…

Murphy’s law is striking us hard. Everything that can fail or break in that engine does fail or break or both.

Latest news is that the radiator cannot be repaired ๐Ÿ™ A spare part is too expensive at more than 400 EUR, we will try to fit a second hand one of a Mitsubishi Pajero, but have to modify the front, another few days lost.
First test driving mid of June is not realistic anymore…

Engine in bad shape…

The engine is dismantled now and it is obviously in much worse shape than thought before. It will need a complete overhaul ๐Ÿ™
Just some highlights:

  • the timing belt slipped by a few teeth, just too few to blow up the engine, but enough for some valves to hit the pistons
  • the sprocket driving the oil pump got loose and damaged the crankshaft
  • piston rings to be replaced
  • all injection nozzles and glow plugs have to be replaced – OK, that at least was obvious from the beginning

I still hope we can join the first test race end of May…
