Three border crossings in 24h

We are in Western Sahara again, having coffee in C. Bir Gandouz.

5:30am: Banjul, the Gambia, ready to go
Our guests on the way back: Gabor and Mark
20:00, Nouakchott, last dinner in Africa

Preparing for the return trip

As we will have two additional passengers on the way back, we spent the day rebuilding the interior of the car and with packing. We removed the bed and mounted the rear seats (which were taken to Banjul by another team with a van), sold lots of stuff that does not fit into the car anymore, and packed the luggage of 4 people into the trunk.

Unfortunately the air flow sensor which should have been waiting for us here in Banjul was not there, despite many people – including the ambassador of The Gambia in the United Nations – being involved in getting it in time. I even tried to buy one from the new owner of another Patrol which was sold here by one of the teams, without success. Thats Africa. Will have to drive slowly at least for the African part of the trip, will try to get a sensor in Casablanca or in Spain.

Departure is tomorrow at 5:30am.

Crossed the finish line!

After 2015 Desert Patrol is once again the runner-up team of the Budapest- Bamako!

The Subaru 360 from Japan made it…
… and the Tesla too (although we don’t know how, only saw it in Budapest, then once in a camp in Mauritania, and at the finish).
