Hotel Delica is coming back home

Since our plans for the next year(s) are not yet certain and I am not able to sell the car in Mongolia without paying a huge amount of customs duties, I decided to find someone to take it back home. I wrote a post in a globetrotter Facebook group and was overwhelmed by the number of responses. Within a day or so I had around 10 offers to take the car back to Europe. Finally I decided to entrust the car to Mark’s and Walter’s care, two adventurists I know from my African trips. They have just arrived in Ulanbaator and found the car in good condition. I hope to see it again in around 2 months, the trip back is not on the shortest path either. Mark has taken his family, his wife and two sons 1.5 and 6, on the trip, Walter a friend of his. Full house!
You can follow the trip back (in Hungarian with rather poor automatic translation to English by Facebook) on Mark’s facebook page.

Mongolia, day 2

We drank fresh horse milk (tastes like sweet cream)

saw a Mongolian family moving, the yurt:

and the horses:

In the afternoon we visited Chinggis Khan’s statue in the East of Ulanbaatar, the worlds biggest equestrian statue:

Walking out of Chinggis Khan’s crotch was a worthy conclusion of our trip:

In the evening I took the car to the family of a colleague of mine, they will take care of it until we decide what to do next.

The taxi ride back to the hotel was the funniest taxi rides I ever had. In Mongolia there are no taxis, you flag down regular cars, agree on the price and jump on the back seat. I had the pleasure to ride with two ladies who were singing Mongolian songs all the way.
