Long time no type…

… but finally Team Desert Patrol is back with the next project.

Unfortunately our participation in the Saharun rally in March 2014 had to be canceled due to my indispensability at work.

But the car was ready and I could not wait until the next big trip, so we decided to participate in the Hungarian Adventure Rally Championship (5 weekend races throughout the year). It was a tough and muddy series and we are proud of finishing up in third place at the end!

Now to the next project: in January 2015 we will join the Budapest-Bamako again. After 3 years of armed conflict in Mali the rally finally returns to its eponymous finish line in Bamako and we are part of it!

The guy on the second picture next to me is János, my partner on the way to Bamako (the tall guy on the right is my cousin Tamás).

I first met János in 2013 in Guinea Bissau, he helped carrying out our charity projects.

New charity projects are under definition for next year and more information will come in the next weeks. Stay tuned!

The new Patrol

This is our new car for Saharun 2014. A 2000 Nissan Patrol 3.0D with Old Man Emu suspension.

Finally a car that looks and drives like a car 😉

To Michal: it’s got air condition and a sliding roof too! The only changes I had to make were to install the extra lights, the CB radio, install the 230V converter. It is a pity the start is still two months away 🙁

Our next trip: Saharun 2014, Tunisia

Here comes the next adventure of Team Desert Patrol: Saharun in Tunisia, March 2014. It is shorter and less exhausting than the Budapest-Bamako, but there is more sand and higher dunes in Tunisia. Stay tuned, more information to follow soon.

First task is to find a suitable car.
